Building financially confident young people across Cardiff
Why do so many adults struggle with money? The answer often traces back to childhood—specifically, to what wasn't taught.
nova-crux started in 2021 when our founder, watching her teenage nephew panic over his first payslip, realised the education gap was enormous. Schools teach quadratic equations but not compound interest. History but not how mortgages work. Literature but not how to read a credit card statement.
We set out to fill that gap in Cardiff, creating programmes that make financial concepts accessible, engaging, and genuinely useful for young people at every stage of development.
Our core values shape every workshop, every activity, every interaction
Theory matters less than application. Our activities simulate real financial decisions young people will actually face.
A six-year-old and a sixteen-year-old need completely different approaches. We tailor everything to developmental stage.
Parents receive updates, resources, and conversation starters. Financial education works best when it continues at home.
Every family has different circumstances. We teach principles that work across all income levels and backgrounds.
Children don't learn financial concepts through lectures. They learn through doing, through games, through scenarios that feel relevant to their lives.
Our workshops use simulation activities where participants make real choices with real consequences—even if the "money" is play currency. We celebrate smart decisions and turn mistakes into learning moments.
Every programme includes hands-on components: running a pretend business, managing a mock budget, saving toward an actual goal. This experiential approach creates lasting understanding that textbooks simply cannot achieve.

Beyond our public workshops, we partner with schools across Cardiff to deliver financial education during curriculum time. Our programmes align with Welsh educational frameworks while adding practical skills that complement traditional subjects.
School partnerships include teacher training components, so the impact continues long after our sessions end. We're working toward a Cardiff where every young person graduates with genuine financial confidence.
